Rinjani Trekking 4 Days 3 Nights Summit Program

This route starts from Sembalun, finish at Senaru. The journey includes Mount Rinjani’s summit (3,726m), SegaraAnak Lake (crater) visit to Hot Springs and Crater Rim Bas Camp.

Trekking itinerary:

Day 1: Sembalun – Pos 1 – Pos 2 – Senaru Crater Rim

Get ready for your memorable experience! Our guide will pick you at the hotel at 6.00 a.m. then transfer to Sembalun. Journey approximate 45 minutes to 1 hour. Registration will be made at the Rinjani Information Center (RIC), 1051m in SembalunLawang. Your guide will arrange for your tickets and ensure necessary briefings are made including route details, local traditions and most importantly safe procedures. Everything’s checked? Let’s go!

Our trek will start by ascent walking passing open grassland. The first hour of the trek climb steeply through thick tropical forest. If you are lucky, you may see orchid and the rare black ebony leaf monkey, known locally as Lutung. Our guide will share related village stories and local legends while enjoying the amazing flora and fauna. Walking time is about 2 hours.

Our first rest point will be at Pos 1 Pemantauan (1,300m) and followed by Pos 2 Tengengean (1,500m). From there, we will proceed to Pos 3 PadaBalong (1,800m). Walking time is approximate 1 hour. You will break for lunch and a short rest. Amazing views of Mount Rinjani from that pit stop are indeed breath-taking. Your guide and porters will then prepare for delicious lunch and tasty drinks.

After lunch and a good rest, resume your journey and start to step the pine-like Casuarina species (known as Cemara). If you are lucky, you may witness wild pigs and long-tailed grey monkeys heading to Plawangan II Sembalun camp site (2,639m). Approximate walking about 3 hours including a prolonged steep climb.

We will later camp at night at Sembalun Crater Rim. That’s it for the day and we shall then enjoy dinner and rest. Enjoy the awesome views. You will not forget the sunset and sunrise with breath-taking views of SegaraAnak Lake, Sembalun Village and the summit of Mouth Rinjani. Depending on the weather, sleeping under the beautiful stars would be best recommended. The sky on Mount Rinjani base camp is so clear one could literally see the milky way spreading across the night sky.

Day 2: Sembalun Crater Rim – Summit – Segara Anak Lake and Hot Springs

Wake up at 2.00 a.m. Get fresh and have some light breakfast. At 2.30 a.m. we will continue our journey to Rinjani Summit (3,726m).This climb will take you about 3 hours and 30 minutes. The starting trek is a moderate steep climb for 120 minutes followed by easier but a long trek.

The final hour is the most challenging where the trek is steep and difficult. Careful and mind your steps here. Don’t worry, once you arrive, the views are very rewarding, you will witness splendid views across the Wallace Line to Bali, Mt Agung and Sumbawa.

After sunrise, another decent breakfast awaits at Sembalun Crater Rim. Rest an hour then we will walk down to Lake SegaraAnak where the route is quite steep and also rocky. Don’t worry, your experienced guide will take care of you and help you going through the trek. Approximate total journey about 3 hours. Lunch will be served by the lake.
At the camp, you will enjoy the rest of day exploring beauty of nature there. Key attractions at that camp include caves, pilgrimage hot springs and lake (you can swim and refresh). Hot spring is just 100m walk from the lake.

Day 3: SegaraAnak Lake and Hot Springs – Senaru Crater Rim

After a good refresh, continue the climb. After lunch, you will leave the lake and your guide will bring you to Senaru Crater Rim (2,461m). The trek is very rocky where it will take you another 2 to 3 hours of steep trail and reach crater lake. The views is mesmerizing as well where this point is known of having second nice views after the summit. You will surely enjoy the sunset and camping near lake for dinner.

Day 4: Senaru Crater Rim – Senaru Village

Yes, you will then heading back down, with some rest points. Walking down, you will take the long trail to Senaru Village (601m). Depends on your luck, you may witness rare black ebony leaf monkey (also known as Lutung), beautiful butterflies, flowers and birds. The journey then continues whilst your guide will share you interesting stories and features from time to time. After 5 to 6 hours long descending down, you will reach Rinjani Trek Centre in Senaru. The journey comes to an end but memories and experiences will remain in your mind for long.
